What is the process for obtaining a sick leave medical certificate?
After booking your online consultation, you will either receive a link to access your online video consultation or you will receive a call from one of our doctors (telephone consultation).
If you opt for a telephone consultation, please ensure that you are able to provide an Irish telephone number for communication.
Please note: This consultation does not include a treatment plan. If assessment and treatment is required, an additional fee of 10 Euros will apply as this will involve a full consultation plus a sick leave certificate application.
When do I need a medical certificate?
Your employer may ask you for a medical certificate from your GP when you are on sick leave. For example, you may need to provide a medical certificate if you are on sick leave for more than two days in a row. The medical certificate must state the date on which you are likely to return to work. If you are likely to be off work for a long time, your employer may require weekly medical certificates.
This is an electronic sick leave and cannot be submitted to the Social Protection Department. If you need a certificate for this, you must go in person to your GP.
