Referrals

Referral
When will the GP deliver a referral letter?

The referral letter is a medical instrument that must be used responsibly and therefore the physician must decide if this instrument is used in the best interest of the patient and will not be causing more loss of time for the patient and work overload for physicians in the hospital environment.

The referral letter is used so that the patient continues to be studied in depth to avoid losing a serious pathology without diagnosing it.

Most common referrals:

  • A&E

  • Scans

  • Ultrasounds

  • Hospital Consultants

  • X-Rays

  • MRIs

  • CT Scans
